<i>In Vitro</i> Susceptibility of Dermatophytes to Anti-Fungal Drugs and Aqueous <i>Acacia nilotica</i> Leaf Extract in Lagos, Nigeria

Dermatophytes were earlier reported to respond well anti-fungal agents; however, an upsurge in resistance with the high cost of these agents increased use medicinal plants for treatment. This study investigated sensitivity pattern dermatophytes oral drugs and aqueous leaf extract plant, Acacia nilotica. The was tested against seven strains Arthroderma otae, Trichophyton interdigitale, mentagrophyte, Microsporum ferrugineum, vespertilii, quadrifidum, multifidum, previously isolated from diabetic patients. minimum inhibitory fungicidal concentrations plant extracts standard antifungal evaluated using modifications broth macro dilution method National Committee Clinical Laboratory Standards M38-A2 protocol.
